cse thanks youThis Thanksgiving season we came across some interesting Thanksgiving facts, courtesy of WHSV.com out of Harrisonburg, VA. And we believed them because, well, Virginia was one of the 13 colonies…so they definitely know a lot about Thanksgiving! As we were browsing through, it was hard to ignore the similarities between Thanksgiving and Customer Service. After all, saying “thanks” is a tenant of great service behavior!

This got us thinking about a few facts and traditions we have here at CSE.  Suddenly the similarities were uncanny! So, we compiled a list of the Thanksgiving facts that are uniquely paralelled with ours at CSE for your reading enjoyment!

FACT #1:

Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird of the United States.

Uncanny CSE similarity: CSE wants the eC²® model to be the official service improvement model to the world! Who isn’t thankful for great customer service?!

FACT #2:

Abraham Lincoln issued a 'Thanksgiving Proclamation' on third October 1863 and officially set aside the last Thursday of November as the national day for Thanksgiving.

Uncanny CSE similarity: On October 8, 1992, President George W. proclaimed the week of October 4 through October 10, 1992, as National Customer Service Week. He invited all Americans to observe this week with appropriate programs and activities.  CSE observes it daily! We would also observe Thanksgiving daily—hello pumpkin pie and stuffing! And love it or hate it: green bean casserole.

FACT #3:

The annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tradition began in the 1920's.

Uncanny CSE similarity: CSE’s Cake-Off began in the 2008’s. What’s the Cake-Off you ask? CSE staff breaks out their top chef abilities to create cakes so glorious that they only last for a few minutes until they’re gone!

FACT #4:

In 1939, President Roosevelt proclaimed that Thanksgiving would take place on November 23rd, not November 30th, as a way to spur economic growth and extend the Christmas shopping season.

Uncanny CSE similarity: In 1997, CSE started consulting with clients and applying strategies to help them improve their service; as a way to spur economic growth, employee and customer loyalty and optimize their Christmas shopping season. Better service = better sales!

Ok, ok, in all seriousness, most of all CSE is grateful for a wonderful year, dedicated employees, go-getter mystery shoppers and our client partners—you’re the ones really spreading the holiday cheer through every customer touch-point.

And, last but not least, here’s a little diddy that we are also thankful for:

Now: go out, be good people, be grateful and be thankful you’re not a turkey!!!

Thank you.
